My frustration with the Martini brand
My frustration with the Martini brand is that they launch new products in the UK and then don’t support them. Surprise, surprise the newest 2 have now been dropped. It’s a problem!
Raspberry Martini
Raspberry Martini is a proper martini designed for summer living. 3 ingredients so simple to make.
Rose Martini
The Rose Martini is a fragrant and unusual flavour for a Martini. Showcasing the excellent Lanique rose liqueur. With vermouth and a little rose syrup.
New products mixologists need please drinks industry
Here are some additional products I’d like to see the drinks industry produce for us mixologists.
Tipping Point – modern and English cocktail
Try this aperitivo style cocktail with mainly English ingredients. It combines equal quantities of Kamm & Sons aperitif with Chase Marmalade vodka and half as much Martini Rosso. Slightly bitter in flavour, this is a great pre-dinner cocktail. More here.
Spiced Negroni – an interesting twist on a classic
Many will argue that the iconic Negroni shouldn’t be messed with. However this for me is the the best Negroni around. The Spiced Negroni featuring the fabulous Audemus pink pepper gin, Sacred Spirits spiced red vermouth and a little Campari.
Do you refrigerate your vermouth?
Do you refrigerate your dry / white vermouth? I never have in the past And yet experts suggest that we should. To keep it fresh. Use it quickly too. And it stands to reason doesn’t it? It’s a white wine with added ingredients in isn’t it?
Sweet vermouths compared
A taste test comparing 4 very different red vermouths. This is a staple ingredient in classic cocktails and yet you wouldn’t normally sip them on their own. So a great opportunity to try them in turn – hopefully to make better, more informed cocktail choices. That’s the theory at least.
Strawberry Martini
The Strawberry Martini is a proper martini. Gin based and featuring delicate Chamberyzette strawberry vermouth. A martini for summer.
Where are the English vermouth distillers?
Vermouths are a key part of cocktail making, particularly old-fashioned prohibition era cocktails. And as English sparkling wine is on a roll at the moment, vermouths which are wine-based anyway are ripe, for development by English winemakers. There are a host of new vermouths hitting the market at the moment, but few are English. Time for this to change.
