Another cocktail recipe and this one is from the 90s I think.
Creamy cocktails were in and then they went out again. Don’t underestimate them though. Provided you’re not offering them in mid-Summer you have the chance to make a nice, rich, indulgent cocktail. If you’re celebrating or it’s wintertime, this is a great drink. Ideal for Christmas. The festive period is key for the sale or Bailey’s Irish Cream. Most people who want to celebrate Christmas with a selection of alcoholic drinks will get some Baileys in. Alongside the port and sherry hopefully.
A Grasshopper is a great creamy cocktail. A vivid pale green colour with it’s minty, chocolate flavour, it is one to have. The Brandy Alexander is an older classic. A bit more sedate but classy and indulgent. Brandy based, again with chocolate and cream. Fine dusting of nutmeg on the top. Lovely.
Then, in the mid-80s along came Baileys. It makes a good cocktail ingredient, such as in the Mudslide.
Mudslide recipe
- 30 ml vodka
- 30 ml Kahlua
- 30 ml Baileys
So equal quantities so quite easy really. You can scale up or down to taste of course. But with both Kahlua and Baileys being half strength, this is a relatively light cocktail in terms of alcoholic content.
The Mudslide is one of the better known modern, creamy cocktails. It looks and tastes of the Baileys that it’s based on, but with the addition of vodka to give it a bit of bite, and the warming coffee tones of Kahlua, it is a well balanced cocktail.
Recommended, if you like that sort of thing. If you want more ideas on creamy cocktails you can contact me hello@middleenglandmixologist.co.uk. Cheers.
